Today, SKB (derived from the samurai family name Sakaba) incorporates modern technology with old world craftsmanship to produce a complete line of premium grade competition shotguns. The company was formed in the Ibaraki province of Japan (northwest of Tokyo) in 1855. Shigyo Sakaba was a gunsmith's apprentice in a small gun repair factory, which belonged to the Mito clan. In 1855, the feudal lord appointed Sakaba to supervise the development and production of new guns for the clan. This small factory was known for producing guns of the highest quality and strongest construction.
